From a Monmouth Park release
Trainer Steve Asmussen confirmed that his multiple Grade 1 winning filly Untapable will make her next start in the July 27 William Hill Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park.
The daughter of Tapit turned heads this morning over the training track at Saratoga, breezing five furlongs in 1:01 1/5 with jockey Rosie Napravnik aboard. “I was very pleased with her, she breezed extremely well,” said Asmussen, who conditions Untapable for owner Ron Winchell. “Weather permitting, we’ll breeze her again next Monday and then plan to ship her to Monmouth either Wednesday or Thursday of race week.”
Asmussen confirmed that Napravnik will have the call on Untapable in the mile and an eighth Haskell, the centerpiece of Monmouth Park’s racing season. Untapable, the Kentucky Oaks winner, will enter the Grade 1 Haskell off a 9 ¼ length score in the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park on June 28.
She will look to become the third filly to win the Haskell, following Serena’s Song in 1995 and Rachel Alexandra, also conditioned by Asmussen, in 2009. The William Hill Haskell will be televised live on NBC and is part of the Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” Series, with the victor getting an automatic berth to the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic at Santa Anita on Nov. 1.
