Journeyman rider Daniel Centeno posted the 2,000th victory of his career Sunday when he piloted Forest Rim to a win at Parx Racing.

Centeno has now won with 2000 of his 11,256 starters and has purse earnings of nearly $36.7 million.  He has come in second or third more than 3,300 additional times.  He has ranked among the top 100 riders nationally in both wins and earnings every year since 2007.

Forest Rim, the even-money favorite in an allowance test on the turf, settled off the lead, made a big move on the turn to reach the front, and pulled away to win by nearly five.

Centeno currently ranks first in wins (31) and second in earnings ($744,720) during the ongoing Delaware Park meet.  Alex Cintron is second and first in those categories, respectively.

Centeno took one of Delaware Park’s biggest races earlier this year when he piloted Gamay Noir to a narrow win the Grade 3 Obeah.  She subsequently ran fourth in the track’s signature event, the Grade 1 Delaware Handicap.

Centeno has 112 wins from 561 starts in 2014 with purse earnings in excess of $2.5 million.
