Monday’s Saratoga feature is the Summer Colony Stakes for older fillies and mares that haven’t won a graded stake this year. It’s a 1 1/8 mile test on the main track.
Virginia-bred South Andros will carry the Midlantic-bred banner. The four-year-old daughter of Sky Mesa-Misty Rain, by Rubiano had just one win in 11 career starts through the end of 2013. But she’s won three of five races this year, including the Justakiss Stakes at Delaware. She most recently ran second (to Majestic River) in the Lighthouse Stakes at Monmouth. South Andros was bred by Chance Farm and is owned by Hillwood Stable LLC and Brooke S. Royster. She’s trained by Rodney Jenkins and will be ridden today by Xavier Perez.
