Works, entries, and results for the Midlantic-breds nominated to the Triple Crown. The latest:
[su_list icon=”icon: clipboard”]- Five workers since our last update, and the speediest of all was Pennsylvania-bred The Man, who ran poorly in his last start — his first around two turns — but returned on Tuesday to zip four furlongs in 46 4/5 seconds at Santa Anita. That was the second-fastest of 18 at the distance.
- Two of the workers were the two Fair Hill-based James Lawrence trainees. Ruby’s Love and Cat Fiftyfive both worked a half-mile over the all-weather track. The former did so in 50 3/5 seconds (18th of 27 at the distance), while the latter covered the ground in 50 4/5 seconds (20th of 27).
- Two other workers were from among the southern set. Virginia-bred Defondo, most recently second against allowance company, breezed a half-mile at the Fair Grounds in 50 3/5, 27th of 42 at the distance. A ways farther south, at Palm Meadows, Balfe’s Corner went five furlongs in 1:05 flat on the turf.
