In the latest edition of our weekly feature with Maryland racing analyst Gabby Gaudet, she plays a Pick 4 and digs into an allowance race.
RACE 8 — ALLOWANCE N4X/OPTIONAL CLAIMING $40,000
The skinny: 4yo and up going six furlongs
Notably: It’s a reunion race: three runners from last month’s Grade 3 General George at Laurel (and four from January’s Fire Plug) reconvene in this rugged allowance field. Cutty Shark — second in the General George — is the favorite. But is his one-for-eight record at the distance a cause for concern?
Gabby’s take: Speed kills — and Smash and Grab is the horse with the most speed.
