Works, entries, and results for the Midlantic-breds nominated to the Triple Crown. The latest Midlantic Triple Crown Update:
Three Midlantic-breds nominated to the Triple Crown are entered for this weekend, and things are getting serious for two of them.
Maryland-bred Bridget’s Big Luvy looks to make the big step up in class in Saturday’s Grade 1 Arkansas Derby. A win here would likely put him on the road to Louisville in less than a month. Bred by Dark Hollow Farm, Bridget’s Big Luvy burst on the scene with a flashy, front-running score in the Private Terms at Laurel. That win, in his first try around two turns, makes him one of the relative handful of sophomores who possess a win at nine furlongs at this time. He’s 20-1 on the morning line and will have to contend with 1-2 American Pharoah and well-regarded Far Right.
On the left coast, Pennsylvania-bred The Man will make his first foray into stakes company for trainer Bob Baffert. Fresh off a maiden score, he’s entered in Sunday’s six-furlong San Pedro Stakes at Santa Anita.
Additionally, West Virginia-bred Kiss the Road will try his luck in a maiden claimer Sunday at Keeneland.
