From a Maryland Department of Agriculture release
Maryland Agriculture Secretary Joe Bartenfelder presented officials with the Thoroughbred Alliance Show Series (TASS) a Secretary’s Citation for their contributions to Maryland agriculture on Saturday, May 23, at the Fair Hill Races in Elkton. The citation was accepted by TASS Coordinator Fran Burns and TASS Board Member Beverly Strauss.
The series has mushroomed from one show in 2011 to three shows in 2012. The series now includes robust schedule of 19 shows in six months. The dynamic new circuit showcases the versatility of the Thoroughbred breed, principally hundreds of retired racehorses who can now have useful second careers and provide years of enjoyment to their owner/riders.
Among venues for the Thoroughbred shows include the Maryland State Fair, Pimlico Race Course, the Prince George’s Equestrian Center, the Howard County Fair and numerous other equine farms and competition arenas throughout Maryland and the greater Mid-Atlantic region.
