Matthew Schera’s Syntax won the $200,000 Grade III Kent Stakes at Delaware Park today. With Junior Alvarado aboard, the 3-year-old son of Haatef won by a half length and returned $7.00 as the second choice in the field of seven.
Money Multiplier, with Joe Bravo, finished second, and it was 1 ¾-lengths further back to Tiz My Velentine, with Ricardo Chiappie, in third. The 2-to-1 favorite, Chief Kitten with Jon Court, finished seventh.
Syntax covered the mile and an eighth over a firm turf course in 1:49.77. The Ireland-bred trained by William Mott raised her career record to three wins from nine starts with earnings of $225,628.
