From a Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races release
With its 2015 season drawing to a close, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races has finalized and released its full 2016 live racing calendar.
Outside of holidays and scheduled downtime in April and October, the 179-day calendar calls for four days of live racing per week with the exception of January, February, July and August when three days are scheduled.
Live racing for the 2016 season is slated to commence on January 7 with Charles Town conducting its live programs Thursday through Saturday when racing three days per week and Wednesday through the Saturday for the balance of the year.
The track’s big days are as follows:
- April 23 — Charles Town Classic day
- September 17 — Race for the Ribbon day (Charles Town Oaks)
- October 8 — West Virginia Breeders Classics XXX
The scheduled post time for Charles Town’s first race will remain 7:05 P.M. EST, with the lone exceptions being April 23, where the card is currently scheduled to get underway at 12:45 P.M. EST and September 17, which has a first race post time of 5:00 P.M. EST.
