Dale Romans earns $50k Preakness weekend bonus

Trainer Dale Romans, who won Friday’s Black-Eyed Susan (G2) with Go Maggie Go and finished second in Saturday’s Preakness Stakes (G1) with Cherry Wine, earned a $50,000 trainer bonus offered by the Maryland Jockey Club on Preakness Weekend.
The Maryland Jockey Club offered bonus money totaling $100,000 to trainers who ran a minimum of five horses in combined stakes and starter races Friday and Saturday. The trainer with the most points earned $50,000.
Along with Go Maggie Go and Cherry Wine, Romans saddled Ma Can Do It to a second-place finish in the Black-Eyed Susan and Flying Tipat to a fourth-place finish in the Gallorette (G3). Romans finished the weekend with 34 points
Mark Casse, who saddled Noble Bird to victory in the Sagamore Spirit Pimlico Special (G3) and Conquest Windycity to a third-place finish in the James. W. Murphy, earned second place with 32 points for $25,000 while Todd Pletcher, who saddled Lost Raven to victory in the Adena Springs Miss Preakness (G3), took third money of $12,000 with 31 points.
Steve Asmussen (22 points) earned fourth and $7,000 while Graham Motion was fifth and earned $4,000.
