Stakes winners Hidden Treat and Swift Lady head a list of 19 horses nominated to the $100,000 Stormy Blues Stakes for 3-year-old fillies going five furlongs on the turf June 4 at historic Pimlico Race Course.

Lael Stables’ Hidden Treat, a bay Lemon Drop Kid filly trained by Fair Hill, Md.-based Arnaud Delacour, went unbeaten in two juvenile starts. She broke her maiden going 5 ½ furlongs last October on the Laurel Park grass and came back to capture the Sandpiper Stakes Dec. 19 at Tampa Bay Downs going six furlongs on dirt.

Back on grass to begin 2016, Hidden Treat finished off the board in the one-mile Sweetest Chant (G3) Jan. 30 at Gulfstream Park and most recently ran a troubled fifth, beaten three lengths, in a 5 ½-furlong optional claiming allowance May 1 at Laurel.

Based in California with Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert, Baoma Corporation’s Swift Lady put together a three-race win streak to end 2015 and begin this year, including a 2 ¼-length victory in the Sweet Life Stakes Feb. 14 at Santa Anita. Last out she ran third by a length as the favorite in Santa Anita’s Mizdirection Stakes May 21.

Among the nominees are S.M.D. Ltd.’s Authoritative, a winner of two straight six-furlong dirt sprints at Parx by 11 ¼ combined lengths; Coco as in Chanel, who broke her maiden May 15 at Pimlico over the same course and distance; Maryland-based Do What I Say with back-to-back wins including a two-length allowance score going five furlongs on Pimlico’s turf May 20; Colts Neck Stables’ Elegant Supermodel, Group 3-placed in England that has yet to make her U.S. debut; recent allowance winners Giddy Up and Startwithsilver; and Tippling Ways, who captured her lone start April 29 at Laurel for Fair Hill trainer Tim Woolley.

Last year’s Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) runner-up Lady Shipman, who won last weekend’s The Very One Stakes at Pimlico, also won the 2015 Stormy Blues last April at Pimlico, the second of her nine career stakes victories.
