The Grade 1 Haskell Invitational often brings together some of the top sophomore runners in the country, and Sunday’s renewal has even outdone itself. Slated to face the starter are the Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist, Preakness winner Exaggerator, mutliple graded winner and Derby show horse Gun Runner, and promising American Freedom. And that’s to say nothing of two interesting local runners.
Listen in as former Colonial Downs on-air handicapper Derby Bill Watson gives you the inside scoop on that race, plus three other graded events on the card.

The four-race sequence includes:
- Race 9, the G3 Oceanport (post time 4:04);
- Race 10, the G3 Molly Pitcher (4:35);
- Race 11, the G3 Winstar Matchmaker (5:05); and
- Race 12, the G1 Haskell (5:47).

Hello Guys,
Great Show and analysis on the Haskell. I also think it’s a two horse race but between Nyquist & Gun Runner.
Although I am a big Nyquist fan, his chances are compromised due to his traveling from the west coast. On the other hand Gun Runner has been training at Saratoga and has several good works over the course. Also since Geroux became Gun Runner’s regular jock, he has a stream of improving Beyers. I think he’ll get a good stalking trip and prevail against a very tough group of 3 yr olds. Good Luck.
