Clairvoyant Lady posts White Clay Creek stunner
From a Delaware Park release
Lynch Racing’s Clairvoyant Lady posted an upset victory in the $50,000 White Clay Creek Stakes at Delaware Park today.
With Trevor McCarthy aboard, the 2-year-old daughter of Astrology won by 1 1/4-lengths and returned $63.60 as the second longest shot in the field of six. You Know Too, the 1-to-5 favorite with Erick Rodriguez, finished second. It was another 1 1/2 lengths further back to Easy Money, with Andre Shivnarine Worrie, in third.
You Know Too was part of a four-horse scramble for the early lead that saw the juvenile fillies cover the opening quarter-mile in a sharp 21.86 seconds. Her main pace rivals — Choice Prospect, La Key, and Easy Money — began to fall away, and You Know Too cleared off to a four-length lead leaving the furlong grounds.
But it was getting late for the daughter of Colonel John, and Clairvoyant Lady was beginning to rev up her rally.
Clairvoyant Lady covered the five and a half furlongs in 1:05.93 over a fast main track. In her previous outing, the Kentucky-bred daughter trained by Cathal Lynch broke her maiden by a neck going five furlongs in a $40,000 maiden claiming event at Laurel on July 15. Her career record is two wins from three starts with earnings of $50,310.
