YESTERDAY’S NEWS: Pricey Win With Pride breaks maiden
Win With Pride has a long way to go to make up his $450,000 purchase price from the Keeneland 2015 September yearling sale.
But the two-year-old colt took a step in the right direction yesterday by drawing off to a 2 3/4 length win in a maiden special weight event at Parx Racing. With Jose Ortiz in the irons for trainer Todd Pletcher, Win With Pride, who was third on debut, stalked the pace while wide before taking charge entering the stretch.
Win With Pride, a son of Distorted Humor, now has a win and a third from two career starts and earnings of $37,500. He is out of the multiple Grade 1-winning A. P. Indy mare Love and Pride and is owned by Repole Stable and St. Elias Stable.

TODAY’S ACTION
- Tracks in action: Parx Racing
- A salty group of seven will line up for the Parx Racing feature this afternoon, a $60,000 open allowance going six furlongs on the main track. The race includes some familiar names, including Trouble Kid (8-1), now back in Ramon Preciado’s barn but still seeking his Grade 3-winning form from 2015; Pomeroy’s Package (3-1), who hasn’t been worse than third in his last four starts; and Chief Lion (5-2), third earlier this year in the Grade 2 Smile Sprint Handicap at Gulfstream Park. But the favorite is the formful Great Stuff (9-5), winner of two straight and entering off a win over allowance foes at Belmont Park.
