From a release
Saturday morning’s edition of Off to the Races on The Racing Biz Radio Network will feature Maryland Racing Commission chairman Michael Algeo, as well as Darrell Wood, communications director for the Virginia Equine Alliance. The program airs at 10:00 a.m. over terrestrial radio on ESPN Richmond (VA) — 950 AM, 99.5 FM, and 102.7 FM — and via internet streaming.
The show will air every Saturday morning from February 10 through July 21.
“Each week, we hope to bring our listeners some of the most interesting guests in racing,” said Frank Vespe, publisher of The Racing Biz and host of the show. “We’re looking to keep our listeners abreast of the latest and best stories in the region.”
On Saturday’s show:
- Michael Algeo, chairman of the Maryland Racing Commission, will discuss the latest doings in the Free State, including the study into the future of Pimlico and what he’s learned playing in an Irish music band that’s helped him in horse racing.
- Darrell Wood will discuss what’s been going on in Virginia, including the recent opening of the state’s fourth off-track wagering facility, plans for Triple Crown season, and how the pending sale of Colonial Downs will impact the Virginia Equine Alliance’s work.
- Derby Bill Watson will be on hand to handicap three critical Kentucky Derby preps taking place tomorrow and to take a swing at some Laurel Park racing featured in The Racing Biz free handicapping contest Saturday.
The weekly, one-hour show will focus on Thoroughbred racing and breeding around the mid-Atlantic region and across the country.
