Delaware Park opening weekend to feature Family Fun Day

The 81st season of live Thoroughbred and Arabian racing at Delaware Park opens on Wednesday, May 30th, with a first race post time of 1:15 p.m. The opening week festivities will continue with live racing cards slated for Thursday, May 31st, and Saturday, June 2nd.
The first live racing Saturday (June 2nd) will be highlighted by Family Fun Day, sponsored by the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen Association (DTHA) and Delaware Park, and a Delaware Park cap giveaway.
The Family Fun Day activities in the world-famous Delaware Park Picnic Grove will run from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m on Saturday afternoon. Activities (weather permitting) will include a bouncy house, a bouncy slide, pony rides, balloon twisters, face painters, popcorn, snow cones and cotton candy for the children. A country-style barbecue fare will also be available. Returning members of the Giddy Up & Go Racing Club are reminded to bring their membership cards and to check in at the booth located in the Picnic Grove.
Also on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m.., guests will receive a free Delaware Park cap at all track entrances while supplies last.
Other upcoming events scheduled for the live racing season at Delaware Park:
- Delaware Park’s premier races, the Delaware Oaks (Gr. III) and the Delaware Handicap (Gr. II), will be held on July 7th and July 14th, respectively.
- The 26th annual DTHA Owners Day will be held on September 29th.
- Handicapping contests are slated for July 4th, September 1st and November 24th.
Live racing will be conducted Saturdays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The final week of the meet live racing will only be conducted on Wednesday, October 17th and Saturday, October 20th. The daily first race post time is set for 1:15 p.m. As always, general parking and admission are free.
