Delaware Park will host a nine-race card on Wednesday, July 25. Post time for the card is 1:15 p.m., and here are some horses to watch:

Race 2 – Lifetime claiming

  • Fillies and mares three and up that have never won two races will go 5 1/2 furlongs on the main track at the $15,000 claiming level.
  • #2 Gemodixie (6-1) likely didn’t beat much last out when she thrashed $12,500 maidens. But she did it with style, winning off by a dozen lengths in her first start in over two months for trainer Peter Gulyas. She’s showing a couple of works in the interim of just less than a month. Notably, that race, the third of her career, was the first time she was equipped with blinkers, and the shades seemed to help. Shannon Uske, having a reasonably productive Delaware Park meet (seven wins in 49 starts), will remain aboard.
  • Selections: 2-5-4

Race 7 – Allowance/optional claiming

  • Three-year-olds and up will go six furlongs on the main track in a third-level allowance with an optional claiming tag of $65,000.
  • #1 The Man (9-5) ran a good one last out in his Delaware Park debut, finishing third in the $75,000 Hockessin Stakes. The John Servis trainee showed his normal early speed, leading the field after a half-mile in 45.98 seconds, and while he couldn’t go with winner Always Sunshine, he fought it out to the wire to hold the show while just missing the place spot. He wheels back on fairly short rest here — that race was July 14 — and retains Jorge Vargas, Jr. in the irons.
  • Selections: 1-5-3
