Delaware Park has an eight-race card on tap for Thursday. Some horses to watch:

Race 1 – Maiden special weight

  • Fillies and mares three and up will go 1 mile 70 yards on the main track.
  • That was a decent debut for #1 Diffuse Nebula (9-5), sticking with it to be third going a mile at Laurel Park. Switching to two turns here may aid the cause for this daughter of Candy Ride, who is trained by Graham Motion for Flaxman Holdings. This runner got plenty of action at the betting windows in his debut — going off at less than 2-1 — and figures to get plenty more tomorrow, in a spot in which any improvement would make her a winner. Jorge Vargas, Jr. will ride.
  • Selections: 1-5-3-6

Race 3 – Maiden special weight

    • Three-year-olds and up will go 1 1/16 miles on the turf.
    • Trainer Arnaud Delacour will send out a first-time starter in this one, #2 J Beresford Tipton (4-1). The son of Animal Kingdom is out of the Western Winter mare Ginger Sea and is a half-brother to the graded stakes winner Howe Great (and three other winners). He’s been training well enough towards his debut, and Delacour has a solid record with firsters (21%). Trevor McCarthy will ride, and he has won with four of 10 Delacour runners he’s ridden in the last two months.
    • Selections: 2-4-5

    Arabian Watch

Thanks to Stephanie Ruff and Arabian Finish Line for giving us insights to the Arabian racing at Delaware Park.

This is an interesting 6 furlong allowance race. Quick And Rich is coming off a poor performance in a Grade 1 at Churchill Downs, but this is a much shorter distance. If he bounces back he should be in the mix. RB Nash was second in his first start this year. He needed that race, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he won. This is also the seasonal debut for the talented Burn Em Joey. If he’s ready, he is certainly capable of a top 3 finish.
