Delaware Park cancels Saturday card

Acting upon the recommendation of the Chief Commission Veterinarian of the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission, Delaware Park has cancelled the live racing card scheduled for Saturday, July 20 as a result of excessive heat forecasted for the region.

The national weather service has predicted temperatures in the high 90s with a heat index of value approaching 110. It is predicted to be the area’s third consecutive day with high temperatures in the 90s.

It is the fourth time that Delaware has been forced to cancel a full day of racing during the 2019 meeting. Since the canceled day is weather-related, the live race day will be made up on Thursday, October 3.

Live racing is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, July 18.
