Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 550 entries for its Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale, to be held on Monday and Tuesday, June 29-30, at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland. Each sale session will begin at 11 am.
The under tack show will be held over three sessions on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, June 24-26. Each under tack show session will begin at 8:00 am.
“Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training has produced more grade 1 winners than any other U.S. two-year-old sale in the last 17 months,” said Midlantic Sales Director Paget Bennett. “Eight individual grade 1 winners are featured on this year’s catalogue cover, a testament to the type of quality offered at this sale year-in and year-out. We have another strong catalogue to present to buyers in 2020.”
Grade 1 winners featured on this year’s cover are Abscond (Natalma S.), Bowies Hero (Shadwell Turf Mile), Concrete Rose (Belmont Oaks), Got Stormy (Fourstardave H. & Matriarch S.), Hunter O’Riley (United Nations S.), Mucho Gusto (Pegasus World Cup), Secret Spice (Beholder Mile), and Spun To Run (Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile). The catalogue’s back cover features prominent graded stakes winners Finite, Leinster, Phat Man, and War Story.
“Leaders of just about every division of North American racing are featured on this year’s cover,” noted Bennett. “Their careers were all launched over Timonium’s consistent dirt racetrack, a surface in which buyers have tremendous confidence.”
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the sale will be conducted under guidelines approved by the state of Maryland and the Maryland Department of Agriculture. Appropriate protocols will be in place.
The sale will also mark the debut of Fasig-Tipton’s new online bidding platform, which will be available to buyers at all future live auctions. The company will also increase its phone bidding capacity as an additional service.
Fasig-Tipton has also converted to a new repository system, which will be utilized for the first time at this sale. A cloud-based system, the Asteris Keystone Repository allows attending veterinarians to review radiographs remotely, instead of having to do so on the sales grounds.
The Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training catalogue may now be viewed online, and will also be available via the equineline sales catalogue app. Print catalogues will be available beginning June 8.
