We’ve got Delaware Park picks and horses to watch for Thursday, August 13. The card features eight races.

Race 4 — Maiden claiming

Maiden two-year-old fillies at the $40,000 claiming level will go 5 1/2 furlongs on the main track.
#2 Malibu Beauty (5-2) disappointed last time out as a tepid favorite versus lesser but can make amends here. She’s a half to two stakes winners, and her sibs have combined for eight juvenile victories… #3 Twirling Thrill (9-5) showed speed on debut and won an early duel but could not hold off a trip-sitting rival. The show horse returned to graduate in maiden special weight company at CT next time…

Two-year-old maiden fillies will go 6 furlongs on the main track.
Pricey #3 Juror Number Four (4-1) — a $100,000 yearling purchase — is by top sire Into Mischief and is out of a winless Malibu Moon mare (who made only two starts). Trainer Brittany Russell can win with first-timers, and this one is showing some solid works… #7 Cilla (3-1) closed nicely for third last time, was a mile ahead of the rest, and gets blinks on today. The runner-up from that last, Hipnotizada, returned to be one of the more impressive juvenile winners of the meet… #6 My Desdemona (8-1) is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Coal Play, but trainer Matz rarely wins with first-timers (4-for-54 with 2yos debuting vs. maiden special weight…
