RACE NUMBER | CONTENDERS | COMMENTS |
Race 9 | 1-4-3-5 | Top choice #1 Mr Thrifty (9-2, part of entry) threw in an absolute clunker last time out at Laurel Park but returns today to his home track. He won nicely two back against allowance foes when a fast pace allowed him to unleash his late run; he may get a similar setup today, and the Butch Reid trainee is showing a work since his last… Really like the last out effort of #4 Optic Way (4-1), who led for a long way in solid fractions before tiring late; he also was very slow to switch leads. That was his first since October, and he can move forward here… #3 Irish Cork (7-2) had no answers last out behind the sometimes-very-good Dreams Untold, but he was well clear of the rest for second; the sixth-place finisher came back to win a local allowance, while the winner ran second at Aqueduct… Nothing wrong with what #5 Confessor (5-1) has been doing of late, and he ran second versus similar last time… |
Race 10 | 7-9-5-1 | Two back, top choice #7 Mach Trial (8-1) won nicely against beaten $7,500 claimers. Jumped up a couple levels to the $12,500 level, he made a bit of a middle move before tiring in a credible performance. He drops a half-step here into what could be a winning spot… #9 They Shot Sonny (7-2) arrives off a win for trainer Jamie Ness… The improving #5 Jupi’s Lightning (9-2) has won two straight and three of four while working through his conditions, catches a manageable group for his first try out of lifetime company…#1 Thousand Percent (4-1) found the waters a little too deep last time out in allowance company behind the very good Knockout Kick, winner of three straight by a combined 17 lengths, but he romped last time he saw claiming rivals and could score in here… |
