RACE NUMBERCONTENDERSCOMMENTS
Race 62-1-3-6The favorite in this maiden special is #6 Irish Knockout (5-2). The Joe Stehr trainee has been knocking on the door, finishing second her last two against state-breds. But she’s still a maiden after seven starts, and all came against state-breds; she’s trying open company here. It’s all enough to make us want to beat her in the top spot, so… #2 Wow Factor (3-1), a daughter of The Factor, makes her debut here for trainer Jesus Cruz. Just a $13,000 auction purchase as a two-year-old, she’s been training forwardly, catches a moderate group, and if she’s got much talent figures to be a major player in here… #1 Loan Biz (8-1) tired in the final furlong of her debut to fifth but had been competitive up until then. No reason the Ronney Brown trainee can’t move forward in her second career start… #3 Rockin Anna Rollin (7-2) makes her second start off a nearly-four-month break for trainer Jeff Runco; her first local try was a decent (if well-beaten) second and, like the favorite, she’s been trying to break her maiden for a while (eight starts)…
Race 72-1-5-6#2 Cape Lookout (3-1) arrives in this allowance contest in good form, having been right there two straight (including a win) against starter allowance company. She’s been known to throw in a clunker from time to time, but she is 4-for-8 over the strip and 2-for-3 at the distance; no reason she can’t run a good one here… In his only local tries #1 Big Boots (10-1) has a win against claiming rivals and a good near-miss second in a starter allowance, and the Bris speed figs say he fits here… Favored #5 Killa Dee (9-5) makes his first start in the Ollie Figgins barn here and also his first after nearly five months away. His most recent tries have been competitive efforts in claiming company at Gulfstream, but we’d like to see some more recent (and local) form before taking 9-5… #6 Prota (4-1) has won two straight in lifetime claiming company for trainer Runco but likely needs to kick it up a notch to beat these…
