Race 62-3-1-4Top choice #2 Sky Queen (3-1) showed promise last year with second- and third-place finishes in New York maiden special company. She gets class relief today for her first try in the Coletti barn and first since last June. The work tab looks good… #3 Ninetypercentbrynn (8-5) has the figs and has been second two straight versus similar, last out in a race from which show horse Tipsy Chatter (who was nine behind this rival) returned to graduate at DEL. But she’s lost versus similar (or lesser) five times now, and it’s hard to get excited about 8-5, though the field is tepid… #1 She’sfirstclass (12-1) showed promise last year when second in her second career start. Let’s give her one more crack to find that good form again…
Race 82-6-4-5Maiden fillies and mares square off here, and we’ll give the nod to first-time starter #2 Shahaada (7-2). The Tapit filly, a homebred for Shadwell trained by Michael Pino, is out of the four-time stakes winner Mamdooha (by Daaher); she was also graded stakes-placed. This one’s only sib to race is a two-time winner abroad, and she’s been showing solid works in preparation… #6 Perfect Song (15-1) gave a decent account of herself on debut, leading early and remaining prominent until the final furlong. She’s been away since August and has been training forwardly for her return… #4 Gia’s Fuego (5-2) is a half to four winners and is by win-early sire Fed Biz. The work tab look strong…
