RACE NUMBER | CONTENDERS | COMMENTS |
Race 7 | 4-8-3-1 | Two-year-old fillies are featured in this maiden contest, and #4 Alice Harper (5-2) led a long way in her debut before faltering to finish third while well clear of the rest. She’s a daughter of Overanalyze and is a half to the multiple stakes winner Gray Attempt. Any improvement here by the Lupe Preciado trainee would make her a handful… #8 Burano (7-2) is another well-bred sort: a daughter of Uncle Lino who’s a half to graded winner Leader of the Band. Her debut was fine, also, a runner-up effort albeit well behind winner Be Water. Trainer John Servis has a strong record with second-time starters…#3 Alrashaka (5-1) makes her debut here for trainer Mike Pino. The Mohaymen filly has a good-looking work tab, including a bullet half-mile over the strip Sept. 18 and several other solid moves… #1 My Three Butterflies (6-1) is a $110,000 daughter of Goldencents out of a Majestic Warrior mare making her career debut in this spot. One concern: she’s based in New York with trainer George Weaver but is shipping to Philly to race. Given how much better purses are in New York, it doesn’t seem to be a vote of confidence to ship out of town to race for less money… |
Race 10 | 3-4-1-6 | Trainer Penny Pearce seems to have tapped into whatever #3 Why Why Paul Why (8-5) needed to take a big step forward. The Archarcharch colt has won three of four, all impressively, while ascending the class ladder since she claimed him for $30k in June. The speedster’s won his last two by a combined 8 1/2 lengths and should have a shot to control this one up front under regular pilot Adorno… The last time #4 Three Two Zone (10-1) faced anything other than stakes company was back in March, when he thrashed allowance foes by over four lengths. He’s made five straight stakes tries since, with only middling impact, but if he can stretch out to two turns for the first time, he should appreciate the class relief offered here… The improving #1 Runningforhome (7-2) just missed against similar last time out… #6 Ridin With Biden (5-1) may appreciate being drawn a bit farther outside after an even effort in last… |
