RACE NUMBER | CONTENDERS | COMMENTS |
Race 6 | 4-6-8-1 | You certainly can’t fault the first-out effort of #4 Alrashaka (2-1), and any improvement would likely make the two-year-old daughter of Mohaymen a graduate here. She willingly chased the even-money favorite, and while she couldn’t get to that rival, she was well clear of the rest… #6 St Maarten Girl (8-1) was a $105,000 auction purchase, and she’ll make her bow here. The Lea filly is out of the graded stakes-placed Conquest Babayaga and has a couple of pretty OK works on display… Curious to see how the first-off–the-claim #8 Johnnyslittlegirl (7-2) fares on the step up to special weight company… Trainer Butch Reid sends out #1 Don’t Tell Frankie (5-1), a firster who’s a half to six winners… |
Race 9 | 9-4-11-2 | Sneakily huge effort last time by #9 The Jones Boy (9-2), one to which the comment line does not do justice. This horse had a disastrous start and was immediately last a long way but made sustained progress to earn the place. It was a tremendous effort, and in his third after a two-month break, he might be ready to knock down this condition at a square price… The Chad Brown-trained #4 Sound Money (3-1) took five tries to graduate but did so last out nicely at Monmouth. It looks like the first time around two turns and first with blinkers on did the trick, and all that makes him a player here… Two recent forays into open stakes company haven’t been ideal for #11 I Am Redeemed (4-1). No reason he can’t get back to best form on the drop back into allowance company… Seems likely that the speedy #2 Jammin Jimtown (12-1) won’t have much choice but to send. Let’s see how far he’ll take ’em… |
