RACE NUMBER | CONTENDERS | COMMENTS |
Race 9 | 4-6-1-7 | Looks like the speed of the speed in this allowance contest will be #4 Empress Deona (6-1), who’ll get a class test today. The Scott Lake trainee led from gate to wire last out to defeat state-bred allowance types at Penn National, but she’d previously failed to best similar here at Parx. She’ll need to get out and get clear under Jorge Gonzalez and then hope for the best… #6 Peyton Elizabeth (3-1) certainly has her moments, including a dominant win two back against starters. We’ll forgive that last around two turns and hope she bounces back here in this 6 1/2-furlong test… It’s been a bit of a star-crossed career for #1 Hipnotizada (6-1). The Pecoraro trainee debuted at two but has made just seven starts to date, partway through her four-year-old season. She’s flashed talent, though, and if she can fire fresh — which she’s done before — she can be a factor today… The formful #7 Sweet Turn (5-1) won last out and two back was a good second at this level… |
Race 10 | 5-8-7-4 | Another who’ll try to take ’em gate to wire is #5 Capt. Candy (3-1). He romped against maidens locally two back and last out was a good second behind the promising Alottahope, who previously was stakes-placed. J. D. Acosta, a good gate rider, has the call… Drawn outside today, #8 Mr Sandman (6-1) should have a chance to work out the stalk-and-pounce trip that appears to be to his liking. Drawn at the rail last out, he vied and faltered, but in his two best efforts, including his maiden score, he sat a bit off the pace, which he should be able to do here… #7 Silipo (7-2) looks to be moving in the right direction and gets Lasix on for the first time… #4 Kenner (9-2) broke his maiden nicely against NY-breds at Belmont and will need to find that form here in his first in about two months… |
