Off to the Races Radio presented by The Racing Biz returns Feb. 19 for the second show of its 25th season.
The one-hour program will air each Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. on ESPN Richmond (106.1 FM) and via livestreaming. It will feature news and conversation about Thoroughbred racing and breeding in Virginia, around the Mid-Atlantic, and across the nation.
- Laurel Park cancels all weekend racingLaurel Park will cancel all three days of live racing this weekend, and its three Saturday stakes will return as extras for Friday, Nov. 29.
Nick Hahn will host with support from Frank Vespe. Derby Bill Watson will join each week to provide his handicapping insights and special brand of humor.
“We’re thrilled to have Off to the Races back on the air,” said Frank Vespe, owner and publisher of The Racing Biz, which presents the program. “We’re looking forward to another season filled with great guests, good banter, and plenty of laughs.”
On Saturday’s show, the crew will visit with Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse, Virginia Thoroughbred Association executive director Debbie Easter, and Laurel Park linemaker Keith Feustle.
Casse, who won the Preakness in 2019 with War of Will, will send out Pappacap in Saturday’s Grade 2 Risen Star Stakes at the Fair Grounds. Pappacap is currently tied for second with 14 points towards entry in the Kentucky Derby and will likely lock up a spot in the Run for the Roses with a one-two finish.
Feustle will be on hand to help us handicap Saturday’s two Grade 3 stakes at Laurel Park, the Barbara Fritchie for fillies and mares and the General George.
Sponsors include the Virginia Thoroughbred Association, Virginia Equine Alliance, Maryland Jockey Club, Charles Town Races, and others.
“We appreciate our sponsors who support Off to the Races,” Vespe said. “And we especially appreciate all of our listeners.”
Each week’s show will be archived on TheRacingBiz.com.
