Off to the Races Radio: Ken McPeek featured
Off to the Races Radio presented by The Racing Biz returns March 5 for the fourth show of its 25th season.
The one-hour program will air each Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. on ESPN Richmond (106.1 FM) and via livestreaming. It will feature news and conversation about Thoroughbred racing and breeding in Virginia, around the Mid-Atlantic, and across the nation.
- Laurel: Stakes winner Speedyness makes return FridaySpeedyness, winner of Laurel Park’s Miracle Wood Stakes earlier this year, returns from a six-month break Friday at that same track.
Nick Hahn will host with support from Frank Vespe. Derby Bill Watson will join each week to provide his handicapping insights and special brand of humor.
“We’re thrilled to have Off to the Races back on the air,” said Frank Vespe, owner and publisher of The Racing Biz, which presents the program. “We’re looking forward to another season filled with great guests, good banter, and plenty of laughs.”
Saturday’s show will include visits from Preakness- and Belmont-winning trainer Kenny McPeek and from handicapper and racing commentator Barry Spears.
McPeek, whose horses have earned nearly $96 million in his training career, has horses running from coast-to-coast on Saturday. He has Kentucky Derby hopeful Rattle N Roll entered in the Fountain of Youth at Gulfstream Park, where that runner is 8-1. He also has Tiz the Bomb entered in the John Battaglia Memorial at Turfway, another Kentucky Derby points race, and he has three others entered at each of these two tracks. And for good measure, he’ll have Envoutante in the Grade 1 Beholder Mile at Santa Anita Park.
Sponsors include the Virginia Thoroughbred Association, Virginia Equine Alliance, Maryland Jockey Club, Charles Town Races, and others.
“We appreciate our sponsors who support Off to the Races,” Vespe said. “And we especially appreciate all of our listeners.”
Each week’s show will be archived on TheRacingBiz.com.
