Pimlico summer meet shifted to September
The Maryland Jockey Club has been given permission by the Maryland Racing Commission to amend its summer racing schedule.
Pimlico, originally slated to run an August meet for the first time since 2005, will now run a nine-day meet in September while the original August dates (Aug. 5-21) will remain at Laurel Park.

The shifting of dates is due to the Aug. 6-7 Moonrise electronic music festival held at Pimlico.
Laurel will now run from June 1 through Aug. 25 (37 days), generally from Friday through Sunday with the exception being Monday, July 4. After the Aug. 26-Sept. 5 Maryland State Fair at Timonium, Pimlico will hold its meet between Sept. 9-25.
Laurel’s current meet concludes Sunday, May 8 before the Preakness at Pimlico meet kicks off Thursday, May 12, highlighted by the May 20 Black-Eyed Susan (G2) and May 21 Preakness Stakes (G1).
