In the Dover Stakes for Delaware bred or certified two-year-olds at 5 ½ furlongs, #7 Ricco (5-2) is a game colt who won by 7 1/4 lengths in a maiden special weight over the strip in June and doubled up with an allowance win at Colonial. With three races under his belt, he is one of the more experienced runners in this race, which should help him today. He can win with the lead or lay off the pace and win. We have this versatile colt on top today. #4 Cold Feet (9-5) was very impressive in his debut race, winning by 9 lengths while in hand late and running a 65 speed figure. Trainer Cathal Lynch has been red-hot this meet, winning at a 39% clip, and this colt is a top contender. #5 Bestsugardaddyever (9-2) was claimed by Brittany Russell out of his winning debut, which he took by two lengths. He has had a sharp work since that race, and if he can improve he will be in the mix. #6 Mean Tweets (8-1) ran second to Cold Feet in his debut and won last time with a 50 speed figure. This colt seems to be improving and could surprise today.
Race #7 Picks: 1-2-12-10
In this first level allowance race for fillies and mares at about one mile on the turf, #1 Corinna (5-1) won her debut race at 14-1 with a strong late move despite being a little rank in the stretch. The step from a maiden race to an allowance race is a big one, but we think she will be able to make it successfully. #2 I’m Blushing (5-2) is a Maryland-bred who was running well in state-bred races. She has some of the highest speed figures in the event and is a contender. #12 Lady Emily (7-2) was running well in Florida before finding the going at Saratoga a little too tough. Her best races have been on synthetic, but she has won on turf and now she is back to a level where she can make an impact. #10 Riveting Spirit (8-1) won on the Delaware turf in last and now has the top jockey aboard.
Race #8 Picks: 9-8-3-2
