ANALYSIS
Top choice #6 Gabriel’s Wing (3-1) didn’t find Colonial Downs to his liking, but the Ollie Figgins trainee may enjoy CT a bit more. His lone dirt try, in the Hickory Tree, was better than it looks; top pair Simply Super and Heldish both look to be real runners, and the former had already competed in stakes at Churchill… Leading trainer Farrior could sweep the exacta with #3 Island D’Lite (3-5) who gets Lasix on after a solid debut runner-up effort and #5 Country Charlie (4-1), whose last was perhaps a bit of a disappointment but who gets Lasix back and has competed versus similar… You don’t see many sons of Tiznow in West Virginia, so the presence of #1 Tiznow Time (10-1) is worth a look. The works are nondescript, but he’s bred to be a runner…

Is that trainer Greg Compton doing a rain dance? His #2 Bold Medication (5-1) ran big on the mud at Ellis two back and has other efforts probably good enough to win here. He was a $250k two-year-old, and it’s notable that his connections’ patience has not yet expired… #6 Benny the Book (5-2) cuts a similar profile with fewer starts and perhaps slightly better figs but makes his first start in seven months today for new conditioner Stacey Viands… #7 Curlin’s Malibu (3-1) makes his first start after being claimed by leading trainer Farrior, who entices Bocachica to ride… #5 Sjo Americanempire (6-1) is an American Pharoah colt making his career bow for trainer Crystal Pickett…
