“We’re thrilled to have Off to the Races back on the air,” said Frank Vespe, owner and publisher of The Racing Biz, which presents the program. “We’re looking forward to another season filled with great guests, good banter, and plenty of laughs.”
Saturday’s show features Debby Dunham of the James River Horse Foundation and Chris Sobocinski of Delaware Park. Dunham, the Foundation president, oversees a group that maintains a herd of 24 off-the-track thoroughbreds which are cared for by inmates at the State Farm Work Center in Goochland County, VA. Delaware is nearing the end of its 2022 meet, with its final two stakes Friday and Saturday.
We’ll also talk harness racing at Shenandoah Downs with longtime trainer Stacey McLenaghan, who grew up near Colonial Downs in Providence Forge, VA. And of course, legendary horseplayer Derby Bill Watson will be on hand.
Sponsors include the Virginia Thoroughbred Association, Virginia Equine Alliance, Maryland Jockey Club, Virginia Harness Horse Association, Charles Town Races, Delaware Park, and others.
“We appreciate our sponsors who support Off to the Races,” Vespe said. “And we especially appreciate all of our listeners.”
