Race #1 Picks: 1-3-6-5
Race #2 Picks: 3-1-2-7
Race #3 Picks: 3-1-5-8
Race #4 Picks: 7-1-4-5
This allowance/optional claiming race for N4L at one mile and 70 yards is very competitive with no clear favorite. The race is loaded with early speed so we are going to go with a horse that might be able to close. #7 Hanalei’s Houdini (3-1) has been struggling since he entered Gregory Viands’ barn. However, this gelding has the ability to run late and if he can return to his earlier form, he should make a late run on these speed burners. The pace of this race may set up well for him. #1 Practical Coach (4-1) has been running against stiff competition at Parx and didn’t embarrass himself when he set the pace in the Grade 3 Smarty Jones Stakes only to finish fifth. He looks like a top contender today. #4 Guillaume (2-1) was in a little over his head in the Governors Day Stakes but is now moving down to a level where he can compete. #5 Highway Bound (8-1) just missed last time and posted a 92 speed figure, which is the highest of any horse in the race.
Race #5 Picks: 12-5-11-6
Race #6 Picks: 3-2-4-1
Race #7 Picks: 5-3-2-1
In this $44,000 second level allowance race at 5 ½ furlongs, #5 Aristocratic (9-5) looks like he has the edge. This speedster always takes the lead and lets the others chase him. This will be his first start in the Allen Ferris barn after the claim. If he can run as fast as he was in New York, he should be able to handle this field. #3 Chief Ron (8-1) only has two wins in ten tries this year but has been very consistent and seldom runs a bad race at Delaware Park. He fits very well with this group. #2 Smithwick’s Spice (5-2) has shown he can run on grass or dirt. Now moving back to the dirt after some impressive races on the grass at Monmouth. #1 Powerfully Built (6-1) was impressive in his first start at Delaware winning with an 88 speed figure. A repeat of that performance will put him in the mix.
Race #8 Picks: 6-7-9-4
