ANALYSIS
This one-turn dash for never-won-two allowance state-breds doesn’t have a ton of early speedsters in it. Many of these are horses that have bounced back and forth between one- and two-turn races or are closing sprinters. That could be good news for #7 In the Limelight (6-1). He didn’t make the races until the middle of his four-year-old season, and several two-turn tries were nondescript. But trainer Vernon Greaves tried him sprinting, and the improvement has been immediate. He graduated last time out with a career-best BRIS speed fig, and maybe the lightbulb’s gone on… Morning line favorite #2 Areyougonnakissme (2-1) has a shot to give Cyndy McKee, widow of the late John McKee, her first victory as a trainer… #6 Donnie B (6-1) lost all chance last out when squeezed back leaving the gate but did run on a bit late. In his second with Lasix on, he has a right to improve, and do note he beat our top choice three back… #3 Lord of Cork (5-2) has run some decent races versus similar but probably needs to step forward to contend for the top spot…
Race 5
6-3-2-7
The morning line favorite and most likely winner in this contest is #3 Chromatic Lass (7-5), who’s won her two starts by a combined 10-plus lengths, both times at odds-on for trainer David Walters. But she’s facing tougher than she has, hasn’t raced in close to two months, and figures to be odds-on once again. In other words, this might be a shot to try to beat her, which we’ll attempt to do with #6 Xanthe (9-2). She ran huge in last to be second against the boys in a race where she was probably best but was defeated by a runner who sat the better trip. If she can repeat that, she’ll rate a chance here at perhaps better value… #2 Yolo Charlotte (5-2) has run some good races but has lost at this level four straight… Improved try in last for #7 Pearly Ghost (8-1)…
