ANALYSIS
Good effort in her first try around two turns for #4 Love of Grace (9-2), who had a sneaky-troubled trip but ended up beaten less than a length. She was antsy in the starting gate as other rivals also acted up and then found herself stalled behind a wall of horses nearing the eighth pole before finishing up nicely. A bit cleaner trip and continued improvement would get her the money tonight… #2 S S Frontier Angel (6-1) is a late-running sort moving in the right direction… Morning line favorite #9 Jubaslilballerina (9-5) has run three pretty good races and finished up nicely in all of them, so you’d think the two-turn trip wouldn’t be beyond her scope. But all three were one turn, and I’d like to see her manage two turns before taking short odds on her… #6 Sneaky Lynk (6-1) jumped up in last to be second at 44-1. Can she repeat that?
Race 8
9-2-1-8
There’s certainly plenty of front-end speed in this 4 1/2-furlong allowance dash, and that might work out well for #9 Showtime Cat (8-1). The veteran had a useful return to action last out in his first start since December, is drawn well outside, and attracts the services of journeyman Angel Cruz, who comes in just for this one mount on a horse he’s ridden once before, in last fall’s Maryland Million Turf Sprint… Can’t fault anything #2 Amidships (5-2) has done, especially at 4 1/2 furlongs, where he’s been in the money all six of his starts and arrives off a win. He doesn’t figure to control things too easily up front, though… No trainer does better in these very short sprints than Kevin Patterson, who sends out first-off-the-claim #1 So Courageous (4-1)… Lightbulb on for last-out maiden victor #8 Kidman Kerry (12-1)?
