- Im the Director prevails in WV FuturityThe third meeting between Im the Director and Bail Is Denied saw the rivals fight to the wire in the West Virginia Futurity.
Race 4 – Wilton Stakes
1. #4 Accede (8-5) – This Juddmonte and Brown filly by Into Mischief didn’t run her best last time out, but could be a slightly better price than this and should like eight furlongs
2. #5 Randomized (7-5) – Her maiden win two back was probably the best effort in this small field, and she wins here if Irad is able to control the early pace and get a good break
3. #2 Unsung Melody (5-1) – A strong jockey trainer combo in limited tries joins here with this filly who may have the speed to bother Randomized and should adjust well to added distance
4. #3 Sacred Wish (7-2) – Has a couple graded tries under her belt, but ran her best last time out, albeit in the mud, and should be in the right stalking spot in this field
Race 8 – Clm 50000
1. #2 Dot’s Dollar (8-5) – Is good at the distance and won in this company here last year, this Linda Rice trainee just seems a tad better than the rest
2. #3 Cees Get Degrees (7-2) – Drops out of an optional eighty thousand, has been well respected by the betting public, and has a sneaky good jockey trainer combo
3. #8 Jake Rocks (6-1) – A seven year old gelding, this one has been doing his best racing over the last year, including winning five of his last six races so is one with real winning chances
4. #4 Happy Farm (6-1) – Doesn’t appear to be a likely winner in this field, but certainly one that can find its way into third or fourth and can be used to round out exotics
Race 9 – Coronation Cup Stakes
1. #4 Love Reigns (7-5) – By no means is this filly a lock to win here, but has good chances if she doesn’t fall too far back with better class than these and a winner here last year
2. #8 Bosserati (8-1) – Since switching to turf sprints, this filly is three for three and possesses some impressive early speed that makes her a real threat in this field
3. #2 Love Appeals (3-1) – Comes off a layoff after a win that would put her close to the company of Love Reigns, and may have the most upside of the others in here
4. #1 My Sweet Affair (7-2) – Comes off a ridiculously sharp four furlong work, with some good class and clearly in top form but will need the right set up to have winning chances off the pace
Race 10 – Clm 35000b
1. #9 Splendid Summer (8-1) – Not as classy as some in here, but has been finishing well consistently and should be good value for trainer Rudy Rodriguez
2. #3 Hilliard (7-2) – One that has been a bit all over the place the past year, but a recent solid effort with Irad Ortiz in this company puts him in the mix if he runs his race
3. #11 Encourage (5-1) – Tough post, but some class compared to the rest and one that has two decent races off layoffs gives this one a chance to be in the mix with a slower pace
4. #2 Penner Ash (8-1) – A bit more upside as a longshot play than Our Country who has been in good form, but a drop back into claiming company here could be the boost this colt needs
