Race 7 – Clm 25000
1. #5 Eyes on Target (7-2) – Will likely be the favorite and seems like the best in here by a small margin, but hasn’t won in over a year despite some solid efforts against better
2. #8 Tommy Bee (9-2) – Ran well in the grade III Kent last year, and after a long layoff disappointed a bit but drops from an optional claimer to face lesser horses here
3. #9 Tartini (8-1) – Comes out of a grade II try at two miles where he was overmatched, but has a stakes win and is still putting forth good tries at nine years old
4. #11 Speedy Hans (5-1) – Bet to favorite in his last four races, this Michael Maker trainee most recent win was on the turf at this distance, so switching back to grass should help here
Race 8 – Birdstone Stakes
1. #7 Next (4-5) – Just seems to be in a groove right now with these longer races, and doesn’t have distance limitations that some others may in this field
2. #6 Lone Rock (7-2) – Ran well in this race last year, and is the only one with a win at fourteen furlongs plus has been effective off the layoff in his career
3. #2 The Skipper Too (10-1) – This colt hasn’t been the most successful as a miler, but shows a bit more left in the tank in those shorter races, maybe indicating that he will adjust well here
4. #5 Time for Trouble (10-1) – This gelding by English Channel will need to come from off the pace to hit the board, as jockey Ricardo Santana can preserve his energy in the early goings
Race 9 – OC62500n2x
1. #4 Pioneering Spirit (4-1) – After finally breaking his maiden on the turf, this gelding by American Pharoah has won twice more, and may have found his stride with the surface change
2. #2 Space Launch (5-2) – Hasn’t won since last December, but Rosario and Clement team up with this possible favorite who is a consistent runner and can win with the right trip
3. #7 Dripping Gold (7-2) – Maybe not the best distance for this gelding by Lemon Drop Kid, but has a few races that put him in the mix to contend for a win and has a win over this track
4. #6 Serifos (15-1) – Was still reaching for more distance after a late move last time out, and finally gets another turf chance at a longer distance which should suit him well
Race 10 – Alw 149500n1x
1. #1 Sosua Summer (5-1) – Broke his maiden here last year, and can win if Rosario keeps this four year old colt within striking distance in a stalking position early
2. #7 Souper Quest (9-2) – First time lasix colt set blistering fractions in his debut at Gulfstream and drew away at five furlongs, flashing some real speed that could be dangerous here
3. #9 Charging (4-1) – Should get a better price after an underwhelming stakes debut last time, but might get a pass on a yielding surface and was very sharp breaking his maiden before that
4. #8 Famous Gent (12-1) – Two quick wins at five furlongs earlier this year and a closing running style could be beneficial in a sprint that appears to be aimed towards a torrid pace
