Race 8 – Clm 50000
1. #9 Prove Right (3-1) – Even if he gets over-bet, this colt by Justify comes off of three straight grade III tries and recently clocked in an impressive four furlong bullet work
2. #8 Joking Way (7-2) – Has been well respected by the betting public in his career and improved last time dropping into claiming company, plus comes off the claim for Linda Rice
3. #1 Devil’s Cay (10-1) – Maybe seven furlongs isn’t his ideal distance, but this gelding by Good Magic has shown a penchant for grabbing the early lead which could help here
4. #7 Street Swagg (5-1) – Cuts back to a slightly more manageable distance, and gets Irad Ortiz as this Maker trainee has been trending up in his speed figures each race
Race 9 – Clm 50000n2L
1. #6 Gamer (4-1) – Hasn’t finished in the top five since switching to turf, but drops from allowance company and wasn’t too far back in his last three plus comes off a good work
2. #8 Harry Hood (3-1) – Just went gate to wire last time out breaking maiden for Chad Brown, so it is concerning to see him in a claiming race, but still good enough in this group to contend
3. #10 Ski Patrol (5-2) – Tougher outside post, but has been competitive in four straight turf tries at this distance and has Irad Ortiz who remains well ahead in the jockey standings
4. #4 Mister Abarrio (10-1) – Four for six in the money on the turf, this Atras trainee off the claim has been competitive at this level and should improve after a tough break last time
Race 10 – Grade II Amsterdam Stakes
1. #1 Drew’s Gold (9-5) – This ridgling by Violence has show a bit more than these recently, and might be sitting off the two likely leaders with a chance to pass them in the stretch
2. #6 New York Thunder (6-1) – Recently off a bullet work, this colt possesses huge upside and a ton of natural speed and should challenge Ryvit for the lead to keep his record spotless
3. #5 Ryvit (3-1) – A winner of his last five, this Asmussen trainee has been best when getting the lead early, but won from off the pace in April so has some versatility
4. #3 Deer District (5-1) – Steadily improving this year, this one comes off a huge effort and could be the beneficiary if Ryvit and New York Thunder go out too fast
Race 11 – MC 40000
1. #1 Timo (7-2) – Has had a few solid efforts in a row and drops from open maidens into claiming so should see a step forward and have a good chance in this class
2. #10 Variable Cost (9-2) – Linda Rice and Jose Ortiz remain on their torrid pace together, and will have a good chance with this gelding who was claimed from the Chad Brown barn two back
3. #3 Urgent Fury (10-1) – First time gelding ran better in his debut on the turf, and returns to the grass plus adds some distance here with Joel Rosario in the irons
4. #6 Twirling Express (6-1) – Returns back to turf and drops into maiden claiming, plus had a solid debut that may translate here with added distance and continued improvement
