ANALYSIS
You won’t make any money, but you may see a star taking the next step in her development. #4 Maggie’s Girl (3-5) has won the first two starts of her career by a combined total of 14 1/2 lengths. A repeat of either of those starts would make her three-for-three; the only question she’ll need to answer in this spot is that of the distance. Her two wins both came in one-turn dashes, while tonight, she’ll try to carry her speed two turns for the first time. The evidence suggests she should manage the added ground fine: she’s been drawing away in her two wins to date, and her dam, the First Defence mare Maginot Line, earned all of her wins going two turns at CT… If Maggie’s Girl falters, the most likely beneficiary is #2 Strong Willed (8-1). The Farrior trainee won nicely two back, then tired late after Music Lass rebuffed her bid last out. She’ll make her third start off the bench in this one… Perhaps #6 No Denying Denis (10-1) is headed in the right direction. Her last was pretty good after a couple of off-color races… #3 Love of Grace (5-2) bested never-won-two rivals in last and still can improve…

The speed of the speed in this starter allowance looks to be #2 Mr Tingles (7-2), who led most of the way last out versus similar but was pipped late at this same level. He’s been away since late May, perhaps a slight concern, but he may offer value in a wide-open contest… Consistent hard-hitter #7 Golden G (5-2) is the deserving favorite and has been in the money six of eight this year. His late-running style isn’t ideally suited to this dash distance, and he has a bit of a penchant for finishing two-three (10 times in 24 outings at the trip), but there’s every reason to expect him in the mix once again… #6 Day the Music Died (3-1) is a versatile sort who’s run good races on and off the lead and might get first run if the leader tires… #4 Grumpelstiltskin (5-1) fell just a length short versus similar in last…
