From the Spa: August 18 Midlantic-breds in Saratoga stakes
by Joseph Aiello “From the Spa” returns to keep you up-to-date on horses bred in the mid-Atlantic racing in Saratoga stakes
After getting scratched out of the Grade III Sanford a month ago, Pennsylvania bred Factor U and Me In is finally in line to make his first start at Saratoga on Friday August 18th. A two year old colt by The Factor – You Betcha Babe, by Yes It’s True, this Edward Coletti Jr. trainee will take aim at the Skidmore Stakes, a five and a half furlong turf sprint exclusively for two year olds. Factor U and Me In enters off of two starts and one win in his maiden debut, most recently finishing twelfth and last in the Tyro Stakes at Monmouth in late July. This performance at five furlongs on the turf likely explains his long 30/1 morning line odds here, as his maiden win came at an unconventional two furlongs at Parx. It appears as if this colt will be aimed towards the early lead, and gets an aggressive rider in Kendrick Carmouche to make sure he breaks sharply when taking on this ten horse field. Factor U and Me In was purchased just this May as a two year old for $100,000, now owned by F L I Racing who certainly have high hopes for their still very green colt as he gets another early chance at stakes company. Bred by Blackstone Farm LLC, Factor U and Me In will break from the five post in the eighth race on Saratoga’s Friday card as he looks to become just the second Midlantic bred entry to win a stakes race at the Spa this summer.
