Tropical storm prompts Pimlico, Delaware to cancel
Because of deteriorating weather conditions in the mid-Atlantic caused by Tropical Storm Ophelia, both Pimlico Race Course and Delaware Park canceled their lives programs slated for the day.
First race post time for Sunday’s 10-race Pimlico program is scheduled at 12:25 p.m. Sunday is closing day for the brief September meet at Old Hilltop.
Saturday’s scheduled first, fifth, seventh, and ninth races are being brought back as extras for the Friday, Sept. 29 card at Laurel Park, which is being drawn Saturday. Saturday’s third, sixth, and 10th races will be extras for Saturday, Sept. 30.
The remaining races originally scheduled for today are not being brought back “due to their proximity in the Laurel book,” the track said in a text message to horsemen.
At Delaware, the day has been rescheduled to November 3. The track’s revised daily live racing schedule is Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday through the remainder of the meet which is scheduled to close on Saturday, November 4.
