Today’s carryovers: None

Race #1Picks: 7-5-6-4

In this $6250 claiming race at one mile, #7 Kinetic Swagger (8-1) is moving from grass to dirt for McLean Robertson. Robertson has won at 24% in 87 attempts when moving from grass to dirt. This horse has a win over the Delaware main track and we have him on top today. #5 Musical Heart (3-2), eight years old, has been away since early August when he was running against higher claiming level horses at Penn National and Saratoga. Now dropping to the lowest claiming level of his career and he looks competitive here. #6 Secret Path (5-2) is taking a slight class drop and could be in the mix.

Race #2 Picks: 7-3-5-6

In this $16,000 maiden claiming race at six furlongs, #7 Wynn Trip (2-1) tried the turf after running in state-bred maiden special races at Canterbury. He was competitive in those races and may have a class advantage over this field. #3 Morales Little Kid (4-1) has been showing early speed in recent route races. Now cutting back to a sprint which might improve his performance. #5 Divining Stone (6-1) is another horse taking a class drop which could improve his chances.

Race #3 Picks: 6-4-7-2

In this $5000 claiming race for fillies and mares at 5 ½ furlongs, #6 Raise Your Game (2-1) is making the transition from turf back to dirt and dropping in class. She had some decent races on the turf early in the year and we are putting her on top. #4 Performanceanxiety (6-1) has some good races in Maryland and looks like a contender. This will be trainer Jonathan Maldonado’s first starter at Delaware this year. #7 Epicurean (3-1) will be making her second start for Wallace Neilson after the claim. She had some good races over the summer and fits well here.

Race #4 Picks: 6-5-3-8

In this $25,000 maiden race for two-year-old fillies at one mile, #6 Trendy (9-5) is getting blinkers and getting class relief today after running in maiden special races. She will be running a mile today after closing in a sprint in last. She looks like she wants the extra distance and has a good shot today. #5 Princess Aleska (6-1) is a first-time-starter for Juan Avila. She has been working well at Monmouth and is facing a fairly weak field today. She could should be in the mix. #3 Navani (7-2) seems to be rounding into form and will try a route after several sprint races. One to consider.

Race #5 Picks: 1-3-2-5

In this $20,000 N3L claiming race at six furlongs, #1 Trepat (7-2) has won his last two and three of his last four. Now making his debut at Delaware Park for Jamie Ness. His front running style should benefit him here, and we have him on top. #3 Giuseppe (6-1) is another horses with early speed who won a $25,000 N2L claimer here two back. He could steal this race if he isn’t pressured on the front end. #2 Six Whips (5-2) has won two straight, is in excellent form, and seldom runs a bad race.  He will be a contender if he can repeat his last two efforts.

Joe’s Notes

  • Jockey John Hiraldo had only five mounts at Delaware last week but won with four of them to lead the colony. He has 30 wins at the meet, good for sixth overall. Three of those wins were for trainer Chelsey Moysey, who is now in fourth in the standings with 18 wins…
  • Gary Capuano leads all trainers with wins by two-year-olds. He’s 6-for-14 (43%) with juveniles at the meet…

Race #6 Picks: 1-2-5-4

In this $16,000 N2L claiming race at one mile, #1 El de Chimi (5-2) was running in stakes races earlier in the year but has moved down to a level where he can compete. He has run well in races on the dirt, posting a 71 speed figure in most recent outing in New York. He fits well here and should compete for the win today. #2 Grandpa’s Kid (9-5) Is a deep closer and will have the meet’s leading jockey aboard. He ran well in a race taken off the turf and should be able to compete today. #5 Brooklyn Guy (8-1) may improve in second back from a layoff and moving to dirt.

Race #7 Picks: 5-4-3-7

In this optional claiming/starter allowance race for two-year-old fillies at six furlongs, #5 Spirited Ride (9-2) won her debut race and then ran second next time out while improving her Beyer figure. This filly is improving and we have her on top today. #4 Mucho Tigger (7-2) won her debut race convincingly running a 49 speed figure. She looks very competitive against this field and looks like a contender. #3 Sharp Eyes (5-2) won her last race at Parx and posted a 58 speed figure. If she repeats that effort she will be a top contender.

Race #8 Picks: 1-6-2-5

In this $28,000 maiden claiming race for fillies and mares at six furlongs, #1 Abby’s Lucky Girl (3-1) has been away since August but has been working well and ran well in her last race. Her foes look pretty weak in this race and we think she will prevail today. #6 Visual Illusion (6-1) flashed speed in her debut race before struggling next time out. She should improve in her third start and she should be in the mix. #2 Speights Delite (8-1) is a first-time starter who has been working well. She could be in the mix with this group.
