Laurel Park and Charles Town Races both announced they would not race January 19, and Charles Town also said it would not race on Saturday, January 20.

The two cancellations bring Charles Town’s 2024 total to four, while Friday’s no-go is Laurel’s first of the year. Laurel has received about three inches of snow in the last 24 hours and is expected to receive another inch or more in the coming hours as the snow continues. Charles Town has received five inches of snow, and nighttime temperatures — first post is normally 7 p.m. — may fall into the teens.

Laurel Park is currently scheduled to resume racing Saturday. With four stakes scheduled, including the Geisha and Jennings (see above video), the track also has an earlier than usual post time of 12:00 noon. Charles Town’s next scheduled day of racing is Wednesday, Jan. 24.
