Delaware Park picks and analysis: May 30, 2024
Picks and analysis for this evening’s card from Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races:
- DATE: May 30, 2024
- RACES ON CARD: 8
- CARRYOVERS: None
- POST TIME: 12:30 p.m.
RACE 1
7. Always Connected | No catching loose leader Out of Luck in last but a return to most of her recent efforts would get it done here; record a shade misleading after going winless in 20 tries on turf and synthetic |
6. Ritz On Broadway | Faded late in last after wide journey |
4. Exageradora | Gets hot-riding bug Robles after rough outing in last |
RACE 2
6. His Name Is Sue | Veteran should be a handful in second off the bench while dropping from open company; looks to have early pace advantage |
5. Class Actor | Last couple aren’t great but overall, this lightly raced sort has shown enough to contend here and still has upside |
2. Senate Chamber | Also dropping from open company but finished well behind top choice in last |
RACE 3
7. Marian Cross | Both turf tries solid including good debut at 5 furlongs when chasing pace over rock-hard GP course |
4. Ithinkiloveyou | Solid first local outing, now tries turf for first time; sire Sky Mesa does well with turf sprinters |
6. Mo’s Vino Mesa | Saved ground throughout in last and put head in front mid-stretch before being swallowed up by winner |

RACE 4
7. Sheza Nasty Girl | Has kept better company than these; probably wants more ground but may be good enough to overcome that |
3. Carsons Cool Women | Rallied from the clouds to graduate in last; lands in right spot for first against winners; lightbulb on? |
4. Whatta Notion | OK tries at Charles Town |
RACE 5
1. Financial District | Bombs away! Ran on a bit in lane last out and ought to be able to take the added ground; debut effort was strong last summer behind a runner who was third a neck in Keeneland stake; should benefit from drop to more appropriate company |
7. Amani’s Tiger | Ran second twice on the turf in special weight company; gets turf again for first time since last September |
12. Napoleon’s War | Must overcome outer post but two turf tries are good enough |
Racing Notes
- 10-pound apprentice Anthony Radcliffe earned his first riding victory Wednesday when he piloted Bar Down Express to a win for trainer Kieron Magee, paying $3.60 as the favorite…
- Pallotta Sisters ($5.00) won the featured seventh-race allowance on the turf by two lengths. Jockey Jorge Ruiz was up for trainer Graham Motion…
RACE 6
1. Two Thirty Five | Has been keeping better company than these until last outing; if time off gave him a boost, he can score at this level |
8. Osprey | Connections protected him last out in first start of the season, a dominant win, and do so again here; can move forward |
5. Inter Miami | Solid win in starter company last out |
RACE 7
3. Twist ‘n Twirl | Better than it looks season bow as this one was rank early, stalked the pace and tired in the lane; dead-heat winner Crabs N Beer returned to be second in G3 Dinner Party on Preakness day; gets trainer Motion’s go-to turf rider in Ruiz |
1. Mission Man | Tired in nine-furlong first start of the season but has prior good efforts on the page; runner-up Fulmineo won James W. Murphy next out |
4. Cannon’s Roar | Usually runs well enough to win without winning |
RACE 8
6. Pistol Or Shotgun | Arrives off a win and has back form that would win here |
2. Awesome Prince | Has been in the money seven of eight but may be a bit outfooted in short sprint |
4. El de Chirel | Figs say he should win and will try to pop the latches on top and take ’em all the way, but voided claim in last and drop in price here make us leery of likely short odds |
