Ironhorse Racing Stable’s Beauty of the Sea sat just off the pace before shooting up the rail and posting a length and a quarter victory in the $100,000 Goldwood Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday.

Trained by Joe Orseno, Beauty of the Sea went the 5 ½ furlongs over firm turf in 1:02.70, paying $3.80, $2.40 and $2.40 as the 4/5 favorite in the field of nine fillies and mares.  Queen of the Mud closed on the outside to complete an $8.40 exacta and paid $2.60 and $2.40.  Bosserati was another neck back in third, good for an $8 show mutuel.

“My filly was traveling nicely the whole way,” said winning rider Paco Lopez.  “I had to wait for room turning for home and when the rail opened she shot right through and finished up strongly.”

A 4-year-old daughter of Bucchero from the Poseidon’s Warrior mare Belong to Sea, Beauty of the Sea now sports a record of 5-2-0 from 10 career starts, good for earnings of $244,410.

Beauty of the Sea is 2-for-2 at Monmouth Park. She earned her first stakes win in the 2023 Blue Sparkler at the Jersey Shore track and returned Saturday for her second-ever stakes win.
