RACE 1

4. Lovely Liza	Decent tries versus better in prior, and last might have been sneaky good; only runner to improve position in the final quarter
5. Water Witch	Couldn’t hold off 4-5 favorite in last in improved try in first in Arriagada barn; the most likely winner but likely to be overbet
6. No More Diamonds	Speedy sort may try to assume stalker’s role here

7. Nami	You’ll have to ignore some poor efforts for this one, but her maiden breaker was really good and a return to that wins here; has definitely had some excuses along the way
5. Dancing Beauty	Graduated in last and makes second start off the bench
1. Catalina Cruzin	In last on dirt didn’t run terribly against Pudd’n N Pie, who repeated against better next out

RACE 3

6. Alabama Shake	Debut really wasn’t bad in a race that produced two next-out winners; blinks didn’t help in last, nor did presence of 1-9 winner Deleted Video; blinks off today
3. On the Chill	Should lead early; how far can he take them?
8. Paynted Thunder	No world beater but keeps running ok races

5. Two Minute Lick	Arrives with two straight wins and the tactical ability to work out a trip; ultra-successful connections
7. My Boss Lady	Connex liked this one enough to claim her back after losing her and then protect in return to last out; return to better form puts her in the mix
3. Vodkatini	Broke slowest off all and then 5-wide into turn in last did this one no favors; third off the bench

RACE 5

9. American Unity	Terrific effort in last when narrowly bested by Megacity, loose leader who’s won four straight; tactical enough to work out a trip if he can avoid getting hung out on turns
5. The Peninsula	Saw top choice three times in Tampa, and all three they finished within a length of each other, this one getting the better of his rival twice; two tries locally haven’t been quite as strong
10. El de Larry	Solid win in last but nearly a 3-month break since gives pause

RACING NOTES

Jockey Gabriel Maldonado, who missed several days after testing positive for opioids, which he said were from a prescribed medication, was restored to good standing July 6 and picked up precisely where he left off: He won with his only local mount July 11 and then had a hat trick July 13. He leads the colony with 30 wins…
Flashy debut for two-year-old filly Social Fortress on Saturday. The Jamie Ness trainee won by 11 lengths under jockey Dexter Haddock while getting five furlongs on the dirt in a sharp 59.27 seconds…

RACE 6

5. Bar Down Express	Lands in good spot to make it two straight and may be controlling speed
3. Omar Comin	Since terrific three back win, connex have tried turf (which went meh) and then much better; can move forward back with these, though cutback to sprint may leave him outfooted early
4. Infamous Nono	Showed little as fave in last; third off the bench

RACE 7

6. Doin’ittherightway	Three straight wins versus similar and drawn well outside where he can use tactical speed to best advantage
4. Uncaptured Storm	Has beaten similar; reunited here with rider Toledo, returning from injury; trainer-jock combo 4-for-12
2. It’s Game Time	Formful sort a good third in last behind repeat winner

RACE 8

4. Red Devolution	Wasn’t beating 1-5 Gran Runner in last but recent form just fine
3. Luv Ya Bye Bye	Couple recent clunkers but return to better form would put him in the mix
6. Wendell Fong	Might be time for a new job for this classy old vet; Ness 1-for-14 when combining long layoff and sharp dropdown
