RACING NOTES

  • Jockey Paco Lopez made the most of one of his infrequent visits to Delaware Thursday. The veteran rider was named on two horses and won with both, taking a starter/optional claimer aboard 7-5 favorite Artistic Reason for trainer Jack Abrams and then winning an allowance/optional claimer aboard Scaramouche for Lupe Preciado.
  • With favorites defeated in four of the first five races, the early Pick 5 returned over $1,053. The big surprise in that sequence, which also spiced up both the middle and late Pick 5s, was race five winner Cesnola, who paid $30.20 to win. Carol Cedeno was up for trainer Kelly Rubley.
