- RACES ON CARD: 8
- CARRYOVERS: None
- POST TIME: 12:30 p.m.
RACE 1
6. Nami | Has run well in two straight and in a race very light on early speed may be in position to dictate terms |
3. Living in Style | Makes first start since January and first against older; Arriagada winning at a 24% clip off the layoff and has strong record with rider Maldonado (31%) |
2. Survival Rose | Finished a neck ahead of top choice following late rally in latest |
RACE 2
6. No Need to Ask | Decent work tab for a runner by win-early sire Uncle Lino; Ashby barn is 5-for-16 with debut 2yo the last two years |
4. In My Memories | Has run well both starts, including despite troubled debut |
1. Ade | Speedy sort didn’t miss by much first out, then couldn’t go with runaway winner Onyx Ten, who returned to be second in the Blue Hen |
RACE 3 –ON THE TURF
10. Payout Ratio | Threw down fast fractions and held comfortably in latest when bug boy up for the first time; unless #14 draws in, will likely be able to establish a clear early lead once again |
11. Krone | Formful sort was in a bit too deep in latest when confronting a bunch of pricey pedigrees, including Uncle Mo-sired winner and runner-up who’d been second in Churchill allowance prior; could use someone to put pressure on #10 but should be running at the end either way |
3. Brown Suga Babe | When last seen on the turf, kept tough company, including in the Dahlia at LRL and then in an allowance that produced three next out winners, one of whom, Belle of Rights, later was second in the Christiana; can move forward in more realistic spot |

RACE 4
3. Take Charge Chloe | Keeps finding tough rivals in front of her, including next out winner Kitten’s Appeal three back and Regret fourth-place finisher Pacific Rose two back; ran a pretty disinterested race in latest but might sit a good trip here |
6. Sea Art | Should be forwardly placed, perhaps just off of or dueling with #4; figs aren’t great but usually runs a good race |
2. Royal Whisper | Any of several of her winter and early spring races might win this one; finds an easier group than most recent |
RACE 5 – ON THE TURF
2. Ramiel | Quick turnaround off a credible dirt try suggests that may have been a workout for this; dam Harland’s Thunder was stakes-placed on the lawn, and Tapit on top says the added ground’s a plus; barn thrives with 2yo |
1. Swiftlet | Debut runner has been training forwardly for a barn that can win first out |
10. Surfside Moon | Tries the lawn after two good tries on the main track; dam was a turf horse, though Malibu Moon a better dirt sire |
4. City Time | Outfooted in zippy turf sprint but not a terrible try; winning time of 56.83 compares favorably with later filly-mare allowance sprint going 5 1/2 that recorded a 56.90 for five furlongs and received a 74 Beyer |
RACING NOTES
- In a rematch of the three of the top four finishers in the Belmont Gold Cup, The Grey Wizard proved best again, defeating Limited Liability by 2 1/4 lengths in the Cape Henlopen Stakes as the even money favorite. John Velazquez was aboard the winner, who is trained by Graham Motion…
- Julio Hernandez was the only rider to double up, winning the opener with Docsgotallthecandy ($9.80) for trainer Anthony Pecoraro and the fourth with Darvesh ($5.40) for Greg Compton…
- The late Pick 5, with no winner paying more than $14.40, returned over $2,606 on a 50-cent wager…
RACE 6
3. Irish Maxima | Flashed major talent as a 2yo winning her first two impressively enough that she was 7-1 in the Frizette, won by next out Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Just F Y I; Servis wins at about a 10% clip off the layoff; filly’s been working fast at Parx and rider Adorno comes for the lone mount |
2. Golden Tabby | Willing try in latest despite lack of early punch and chasing loose leader; formful and has leading trainer-rider combo |
7. Blaze On | Drawn outside other speed while seeking to extend three-race heater and climbing the class ladder |
RACE 7 – ON THE TURF
6. Union Suit | Pretty good try in first on turf when facing 3-5 winner; blinkers come off, and this one may be controlling speed if connex want to go that route |
11. Memphis Showboat | No shot to catch winner after that one strolled a 26-second quarter last out but this one was willing and race has produced three next-out winners; second start off the bench |
2. Juniper Juice | Hasn’t put a step wrong since switched to turf; Boyce in the irons a positive |
1. Tiki Bar | In good form and though best outing came two back when loose on the lead ran pretty well in latest with stalking trip; likely to have to take stalking position again here |
RACE 8
1. Six the Hard Way | Found waters too deep in latest versus much better; drop back to appropriate level a plus and could sit a good trip |
5. My Boss Lady | Has better efforts to return to |
6. She So Cool | Figs players will endorse this one but 5yo still eligible for three-life condition |
