1. Bootsy’s Merlot | Outfooted a bit going short, ought to be up close with the added ground; leading rider stays aboard |

RACE 3 – ON THE TURF
2. Up for It | Has faced better and run competitively; most recent turf try when second has produced two next out winners and five to finish in triple |
1. Dark Dutchess | Bested boys to graduate and hopes for similar rail trip here |
7. Surprisingly Sweet | Likely to be outfooted early but running on late |
10. Reckless Kelly | Wore blinks for best races, gets them back on today; a return to better form puts here right there if she draws in |

5. Doin’ittherightway | Delaware lover had excuses in latest when floated out early and wide both turns but was clear second; has been thriving versus similar |
6. He’s in Charge | Likely to control the pace in this contest, the first two-turn race of his career; if he can get the distance, he might be tough to reel in |
3. Walk Away Joe | Never really involved in latest but has better efforts not long ago |
RACE 5 – ON THE TURF
10. Financial District | Galloped out in front after closing second in most recent versus similar two back; might just get the right setup here |
2. Elusive Image | Speedster ran a big one in latest, disposing of pace rival and fending off the favorite before succumbing to finish second; will have company up front again |
3. Twist ‘n Twirl | Might well go favored in here off credible tries in allowance company but the drop off the claim gives us pause |
RACING NOTES
- The race 4 win by Bella Mama ($48.20) blew up all three of Delaware’s Wednesday pick fives. The early pick 5 returned over $11,792, the middle pick five $3,529.90, and the late pick five $3,537.60.
- Jockeys Jaime Rodriguez and Gabriel Maldonado each won three races Wednesday. For Rodriguez, they came aboard Brookmesa ($3.40) for trainer Terri Pompay, Scott Twentytwo ($5.00) for Jamie Ness, and Spikezone ($2.20), also for Ness. Maldonado scored on Lantern’s Candy ($5.80) for Cesar Nambo, Gran Runner ($15.60) for Maxine Correa, and Mission Mike ($6.60) for Darien Rodriguez.
RACE 6
2. Point Dume | Speedster should benefit from cutback to 5 1/2 furlongs; saw rugged field in latest |
6. Durante | Classy warhorse showed little in latest when outfooted in short field at Laurel; $500k earner has plenty of back efforts that win here |

RACE 7 – ON THE TURF
9. The Last Scip | Saw two-race win streak snapped when a decent third behind front-running winner in latest; will look for a mid-pack trip |
7. American Unity | Willing but not quite enough in most recent; never out of the money on the lawn |
2. Fun Lovin Criminal | Hasn’t seen the lawn since last year and is a better horse now than he was then |
3. Petit Fils | Led every step of the way in dominant score on soft turf; inclined to think he won’t have it all to himself this time |

2. Flat Lucky | Enters in good form, obliterated beaten claimers in latest, and can win on or off the pace |
1. Steele Money | Late runner may not get the setup he wants but should be running on at the end |
5. Two Thirty Five | Will gun for the lead early |
